The shortcoming of human beings of which is spoken here is prevalent and must have deep roots.

As far as I understood Sigmund Freud, most mistakes made by human beings are a symptom of something else the person would like to do. This is called the Freudian Slip.

Perhaps the topic we are talking about here is nothing but an Freudian Slip for a secret Death Drive?

How else are the terrible mistakes to understand that always happen to human beings. The mistakes of single people are mostly of no concern for the general public.

It is different, when this Freudian Slip befalls the leaders of politic, science and business.

Not to speak of the military! Which is a completely different matter, which should not concern us here. Although every war is besides the human tragedy it is also bad for nature.

What does concern us here are the weak spot which inherent in every system, be it a technical or a social one.

For example Nuclear Power.  The physicists and engineers have thought of everything. But then Chernobil in 1986. Another point science has not found yet, is what to do with the Radioactive Waste.

Another current incident is the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico 2010.

As it seems the engineers didn’t think about the possibility that a leak could occur in a depth of 1500 meters under the sea level. it is interesting that no worst-case scenario has been developed. The company running the rig simply started drilling and exploiting and now we have to deal with this crisis and they haven’t stopped the spill yet and don’t even know when they will be able to.

And it is not so that the present oil spill a single occurrence. Here is a link to 10 Famous Oil Spills.

And the politicians let it all happen because they only think about their present mandate and how to get reelected.

As much as the presented examples show this strange behavior it is only the tip of the Iceberg.

The sum of all this thoughtlessness and negligence is the danger of the Climate Change.

No one of the already mentioned leaders thinks to prepare a worst-case scenario and to think what to do when this scenario will come true!

    Great, thanks for posting!

I really like this post, would you provide more information?

We need to push ourselves to make as many reductions as possible in our own energy use first, and that takes time. But we must do this quickly, the climate will not wait for us.

I agree with you 100% Mr. Max, We are upsetting the atmosphere upon which all life depends. In the late 80s when I began to take climate change seriously, we referred to global warming as a “slowmotion catastrophe” one we expected to kick in perhaps generations later. Instead, the signs of change have accelerated alarmingly.

I just came to your site by searching for climate change issues on google, and i must say i am happy to find this amount of information here, you are putting great effort in here, its great to see that some writers are still fighting for the sake of this world.

A revolution in humanity’s use of fossil fuel-based energy would be necessary sooner or later to sustain and to extend modern standards of living. It will be required sooner if we are to hold the risks of climate change to acceptable levels.

The costs that we bear in making an early adjustment will bring forward, and reduce for future times, the costs of the inevitable eventual adjustment away from fossil fuels.

Mr. Max : The climate change problem is at its heart an ethical problem. It’s a problem of income distribution and it’s a problem of income distribution with dimensions that we don’t usually think about very much.

  7. Ross Garnautes

It is a simple fact of life on earth that there is going to be no successful mitigation of the climate change problem without a truly global effort. All developing companies or all major developing countries have to be part of that and accept substantial constraints on greenhouse gas emissions.

This is all NONE SENSE, meaning : is a verbal communication or written text that is spoken or written in a human language or other symbolic system but lacks any coherent meaning.

Stupid stupid stupid talks with no BASE.

Great Article Max, The world’s forests need to be seen for what they are.. giant global utilities, providing essential services to humanity on a vast scale. Rainforests store carbon, which is lost to the atmosphere when they burn, increasing global warming.

The life they support cleans the atmosphere of pollutants and feeds it with moisture. They help regulate our climate and sustain the lives of some of the poorest people on this Earth.

Dear Author, thank you for this article. the climate change should be seen as the greatest challenge to face man and treated as a much bigger priority in the world.

  11. Shakur Kevens

We can debate this or that aspect of climate change, but the reality is that most people now accept our climate is indeed subject to change as a result of greenhouse gas emissions.

  12. Blence Seb.

The blunt truth about the politics of climate change is that no country will want to sacrifice its economy in order to meet this challenge, but all economies know that the only sensible long term way of developing is to do it on a sustainable basis.

If people don’t recycle I am not going to assume they don’t care about the environment. There is not a simple causal relationship. In fact it could be if there is a sense of inevitability or powerlessness then recycling is not going to make any sense to them.

What is unique about current global climate change is the role of human behaviour, We must look at the reasons people are not acting in order to understand how to get people to act.
