How science is directly responsible for the ecological situation and how it fails to offer a solution. Perhaps Anti-Science is the answer?.

Science is the cause of the present ecological problem. First, it enabled the economy and society to advance to this stage. Better medical and hygienic, to what extent is not clear, conditioned the growth of the world population. And now we have too much technology and too many people on earth.

The philosophers of ethics, economy and society did not really confront the question at hand, although Malthus (1) warned already 200 years ago about the emerging problem of world population. Now about 7 billion people live on earth and soon it will be 9 billion. Science does not give us the problem- solution specifications. Although, all the get gatherings in all kinds of conventions and summits, give the pundits the opportunity to talk about it. Because of the lack of such scientific parameters, the technological development goes the same old ways and no alternative technologies are researched and planned.

The situation is not as bleak, as it may appear. Some projects are quiet promising. In the university of Munich/Germany, they are working on Micro- Hydroelectric facilities. Please follow the link Nano (2), at the end of the page for the whole clip. The language is German, so all, who do not understand it, the pictures talk for themselves. Interestingly, the curator for energy technologies in the Deutsche Museum in Munich, shows at the end of the report, Micro-Steam gadgets.

This are already two ingredients of the TOTEM System. Only the Biogas is missing and solar and wind energy. The water turbines could be smaller and the steam generator bigger. It is also mentioned, that a drop height of 2 meters are enough to drive such a turbine. In such a case, in every floor of a building a water turbine can be installed!

The idea of the TOTEM System comes from and not from the universities.

It is understandable, that such project as the one from Munich is not as prestigious as, for example the Fukushima nuclear power plants. Wouldn’t it be better if we had, instead of each nuclear power facility one thousand TOTEM Systems. Still the Micro-power technology has immense potential and is, for sure, agreeable to nature and society. Without the dangers of Giga-technology in cases such as in Fukushima (3), Chernobyl (4). It didn’t happen yet, but imagine a dam, as the Hoover Dam (5), breaks as a result of an earthquake.

For such Low-tech as the the Micro-technology is, science is not really needed. The technology exist, it just has to be refined. And projects, interestingly from the so called 3. World, were realized without scientific help. Be it Conserve (6) in India or the village Awra Amba (7) in Ethiopia or many other projects. Many such Micro-technological and social projects are undertaken, but the tidings did not get through to science, politics and business. Yet!

 One last question must be also asked, in which university did the builder of the Pyramids in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome or the Cathedrals of Europe study? Those buildings still stand, after some thousand years, while the buildings of today, built by university educated specialists, crumble after some decades. So much for science!
