A couple of thousand years ago earth was full of forests.
The destruction is the mostly results of human deeds.
And the destruction of the forests still goes on.

For millions of years the forest and the phytoplankton in the oceans were the sources to absorb the CO2 in the atmosphere.

But both are being badly damaged.

Some people will try to sell a technology to do the photosynthesis.
Then we will have to buy oxygen in the supermarket, just like exotic table water.
The question is whether technology can do the job better then nature?
The answer is simple. NO!
Let nature do what it has always done, creating an atmosphere in which we humans can strive.
At the same time as scientists are searching for a new technology the forests must be revitalized.
Who knows how long it will be until the new technology is found and implemented.
GIRP
A good place to start in Europe would be the Greek Islands.
Of all the 6.000 islands of Greece only 227 are inhabited.
Probably the earth of the islands is eroded.
The sludge of waste water purification plants throughout of Europe can be deposited on the islands.
During the summer time solar energy is used to desalinate sea water, which is used for irrigation.
The reason to reforest the Greek islands is the simple fact that on the islands there is no competition between man and nature.

Greece is almost every year plagued with gigantic forest fires. It is suspected that the fire is set on purpose by some people.
A nice side effect could be that the migrating birds could use the reforested island as a resting place since the other places in Europe, Asia Minor and Africa are getting scarcer with time.

I have never heard of this, new information for me if what you saying is right.

    • Dear Sigi,
you could not have heard of the GIRP since it is originally my idea. But perhaps someone in the right place will hear of it and it will come true.
But reforestation can happen every where. If everyone would plant a tree or two that would be nice.
      Thank you for your comment.

I agree with you. The Greek Islands is beautiful country and I hope that it is preserved and always nice. If they had more money many of the problems would not happen, just my thought.
