Every child should visit school. Not that this is so in some parts of the world, where children are forced to work instead of going to school. And those kids don’t play either! The only way of improving the lives of people is to grant them adequate education.

That this statement is right, can be seen by the standard of education in the developed countries and those in the less fortunate parts of the world. The better the education, the higher the standard of living and the higher the standard of living, the better the education. It is a kind of a self fulfilling prophecy.

Education means a lot more, then just to teach the students mathematics and history and how to read and to write. More is needed today – Ethics! This subject, so it seems, is rather neglected in school and university. Humanity needs now a new approach how to live together as human beings and how to treat nature. How will the young generation fight the climate change? How will they handle the over population on earth? By finding a way how to live together or by the laws of the jungle?

But it seems that the pupils are just getting prepared to function in a society which does not care about nature and how people treat people.

Educating children and students ethics becomes more and more important today.

First, because the influence of consumption and limitless hedonism is too strong.

Secondly, because it seems, that TV and the Internet is educating our children more then school.

Thirdly, because ethics and a resulting change in culture is the only survival strategy we really have!

This is why ethic teaching should be more emphasized in school. And not just in theoretical fields, but in practical ones as well. For instance a model of the TOTEM System should be a part of science classes. Renaturation* projects should be part of biology classes.

It is imperative to teach, not only, children ecological ethics. But only theory is not enough, as practical lessons a TOTEM System model could be built as part of science classes.

As important as it is to prepare the children for their future, it is just as important to prepare the future for our children.

*Renaturation is derived from the German term Renaturieren and means to establish the natural surrounding to its original state. In many respects it resembles the term Reforestation, but Renaturation is not limited to forests.

Wow!, this was a top quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this as well – taking time and real effort to make a nice article… but what can I say… I keep putting it off and never seem to get something done
